Waves Director Shot The Film Like A Documentary

Waves is an upcoming film from director Trey Edward Shults (It Comes at Night), starring Taylor Russell (Lost in Space), Kevin Harrison Jr (Assassination Nation, Monsters and Men), and Alexa Demie (Euphoria).

LRM‘s own Nancy Tapia attended a round table interview with the three actors and we learned several interesting facts about production including how the director shot the film in a way that made the actors feel more comfortable.

Russel explained:

“…You just want to be in the moment. Luckily Trey [Edward Shults] wants us to be in the moment and he’s very much in the moment, so I think he, with his filmmaking style, it feels more like a documentary, and so it felt very real… so yeah I think we just felt really comfortable to just go there and explore things and figure things out as we go and it was a very trusting group.”

The logline on IMDB is as follows:

Traces the journey of a suburban family – led by a well-intentioned but domineering father – as they navigate love, forgiveness, and coming together in the aftermath of a loss.

Waves hits theaters on November 15, 2019.
