Invisible Man Shortlist Reportedly Includes Armie Hammer, Alexander Skarsgard

Goodbye Dark Universe. I know, it was a short-lived existence, but if The Mummy was any indication of the type of stuff we were going to get, it’s probably for the best that it’s laid to rest. That being said, all the characters that were to be a part of that universe are much too intriguing to let die so quickly, and that includes the Invisible Man.

Back when the Dark Universe was on the up and up, Universal proudly released a cast photo, featuring Johnny Depp, who would be playing the titular role in the eventual movie. Obviously, that’s no longer going to happen, and as of this writing, Blumhouse Productions is spearheading this new take, with Upgrade‘s Leigh Whannell taking the helm for this standalone story.

But who could play the character now, with Depp out? According to That Hashtag Show, the role of Adrian Griffin, a billionaire sociopath who is developing an invisibility suit for the department of defense, could go to one of two candidates. The first is Armie Hammer, and the second is Alexander Skarsgard. Additionally, Elizabeth Moss is reportedly in negotiations to play Cecilia Kass in the flick.

As far as story details go, this more modern take on the story makes sense — though I’m interested in how creating an invisible suit will backfire. I’m also interested in the names. In the original novel, the character’s name is only Griffin, and in the film, it’s Jack Griffin. I wonder if there is a reason behind the name change. And speaking of names, the character Cecilia Kass doesn’t sound familiar to me, so I’m interested to see what her role is.

In terms of talent, they could do much worse than anyone they have there. So long as the story works, I don’t see the actors being a problem here. But what do you think? Let us know your thoughts down below!
