James Gunn Fired From Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3!

Wow! If this isn’t one of the most shocking things to happen to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I don’t know what is! Thanos has nothing on this universe shake-up!

Variety reports that James Gunn was fired as the writer/director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after a series of offensive tweets were unearthed where he made light of topics like pedophelia and rape. Disney just made the announcement during SDCC.

Alan Horn, the studio’s charman had the following statement:

“The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values, and we have severed our business relationship with him.”

I am not surprised something like this came out from deep within the internet, as a lot of us have said a lot of things we regret. I’m not defending the man, but in this era of the internet, be careful what you type… and what you typed in the past.

The absence of Gunn will be felt throughout the MCU, as his specific voice not only made Guardians of the Galaxy one of Marvel’s most profitable franchises, but his comedy influence also set direction for the MCU films that followed. Gunn even wrote the Guardians’ dialogue in Avengers: Infinity War and was considered a front-runner in moving the MCU toweward the Cosmic, should Kevin Feige want to move on.

What do you think of this shocking news? Can the Guardians of the Galaxy ever feel the same? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below!
