James Wan has been a busy man since 2003.
After he burst onto the scene with his horror hit Saw, Wan has been the creative mind behind four horror franchises, multiple solo horror stories, ventured into the action movie realm with Furious 7 and is helming the director’s chair in the DC Universe with the release of Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa, this December.
Meanwhile, Jason Blum has made his mark as a producer ever since Paranormal Activity. With the success of The Purge franchise, successful small horror films like Quija and Truth Or Dare, the massive success of Jordan Peele’s Get Out and the upcoming Halloween 2018, Blum has delved his hands deep into multiple creative projects. And now, these two producing giants are teaming up.

Wan and Blum, who have partnered before for the Insidious films, will be producing the film M3GAN. Based upon an original script treatment by Wan, the film tells the story of a life-like doll that is meant to bond with her niece, who has been recently orphaned. Things become terrifying when the doll becomes extremely overprotective.
The film will be directed by Housebound‘s Gerald Johnstone and the newly draft screenplay is penned by Akela Cooper (Luke Cage, American Horror Story). Shooting for the film begins this Fall.
