Jason Bateman To Direct Thriller Shut In

Fresh off of his role in Dodgeball: An Underdog Story, where he played that one announcer dude, Jason Bateman has gone deep into the thriller game. Okay, he’s done a few things since then — including starring in and direct Ozark, the latter of which he won an Emmy for — but he’s definitely come a long way. It seems as though he’s settling into the world of directing pretty well.

Deadline and Collider are both reporting that he is in negotiations to direct a thriller called Shut In, which is a spec script from Melanie Toast that is being described as an “edgy thriller in the vein of Panic Room, in which a single mother is held captive by her violent ex, with her two young children are left at risk.”

You may recall that Bateman was attached to a Clue remake with Ryan Reynolds. That appears to still be the case, but apparently that one requires more development that won’t allow him to get back to Ozark to film. This means he’ll be squeezing this movie in next, then going back to his show, and if all goes well, jumping into Clue after.
