Jeremy Renner Takes To Social Media To Plead With Sony For Spider-Man’s Return

The story of the month, if not the entire summer is the news that talks have broken down between Sony and Marvel Studios over the inclusion of the Spider-Man IP in the MCU going forward. Whilst we have shared all that we can find about this story in other articles, this is going to be developing story that keeps on providing news worthy stories.

The latest of which is the first MCU star to take to social media to plead with Sony to somehow make the Spider-Man deal happen. Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), one of the OG Avengers has shared his thoughts on Instagram, and he definitely seems to want Sony to come back to the table, check it out.

Renner even invokes the name of Stan Lee in his plea to Sony, but this is big (Billion Dollar) business, and I can certainly understand why Sony need to make sure they are making as much money (or more) with Marvel as they would without. After all, no one actually makes movies ‘for the fans’ in reality, it’s a business designed to make money. It does though, always help the business when movies are accepted and loved by fans and so far Sony’s track record with this franchise is one that this fan doesn’t care to see repeated anytime soon.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is far and away (no pun intended) my favourite Spider-Man movie and things were set up so well to carry that forward into the future of the MCU. I just hope that Sony and by default, the fans, don’t come to regret this in the future. There is even talk of fans organising a Sony boycott’s as a result of this, but from where I am sitting, (and I never thoughts I’d say this) I can’t help but have some sympathy with Sony over this if the details reported are correct.

On the other hand the best thing creatively for Sony’s properties seems to be to allow to Marvel studios to play with them as they wish and for Sony to ride the easy money train. However, tell that to Sony’s investors who may not like seeing that much profit makes it way over to rivals Disney and at the end of the day, Sony like all companies have to keep their investors happy and content.
