Joe Manganiello Says The DeathStroke Solo Film Is Still Happening

This year’s San Diego Comic-Con brought with it lots of DC content, including trailers for their upcoming films, Aquaman, and Shazam! While DC has a number of projects in development, one project that fans are still unsure of is a Deathstroke solo film. The actor who played the character in a Justice League post-credits scene, Joe Managaniello, recently spoke with MTV and assured fans the film is still in the works, and it is a matter of when, and not if.

“I just say ‘it’s in the works’ because it is. and I — really, there’s nothing further. All I can say is, for the hardcore fans, it’s — it’s in the works. They want it they want the character to happen, it’s just when he happens. They [want to do it the right way]. Everyone’s committed to that.”

While the character has been a featured on the CW’s Arrow,  Deathstroke is one of the more popular comic characters that hasn’t really been given the chance to shine on the big screen (unless you count Teen Titans Go! To the Movies). It’s been reported, but not confirmed that DC may shift a focus to films featuring their villains. We know that is the case for at least one of their villains as a reportedly low budget Joker origin movie is now in the works. What we do know is that there is a definite shift in tone with Shazam!, so change are going on over at DC, and a move to give more villains their own film could be part of it.
