Keanu Reeves Explains How He Came To Be A Part Of Toy Story 4

Isn’t Keanu Reeves just an all-around kick ass dude? You bet your ass he is. Starting his acting career in the mid 80s, Reeves has lent his talents to many memorable roles over the years including Ted “Theodore” Logan from the Bill and Ted movies (we’re all still hoping a third entry into that franchise gets made), FBI Agent Johnny Utah in Point Break. And of course, one of the most iconic roles ever, Neo, from The Matrix (such a bummer the sequels were awful).

While Reeves has proved to be versatile, if earlier this year someone told you that Reeves would be lending his talents the latest entry into Pixar’s landmark franchise,  you might have replied with a long drawn out “riiiiight” in the style of Dr. Evil. However, not long ago word came down of Reeves’ unexpected casting in the fourth installment to Pixar’s Toy Story franchise.

“I got a call which was really cool out the blue from the lovely people at Pixar and the creators of this number, this edition, or continuation of the story. They pitched the character to me and then we spoke and they allowed me to kind of riff on it.”

Of course it’s far too early to expect any real information on Reeves’ character, but I will throw a couple of guesses out there. The first would be something to do Reeves’ iconic role of Neo in The Matrix. While younger viewers may not get the reference, those that grew up with the franchise certainly will.

Another prominent role Reeves’ has found himself in is John Wick. Sure, even a light parody of this character would have to be severely toned down and sprinkled with some of Pixar’s magic dust, but the studio is no stranger to throwing something in there for the adults.

This is all pure speculation on my part, and the role could have nothing to do with any previous character that Reeves has played. Reeves voice is easily recognizable to even those with casual knowledge of pop culture, so he should make for a great addition to the franchise.
