Rumors came around today that the trailer for the still untitled Star Wars: Episode IX would likely be released before Christmas, while we wait to see if that information turns out to be true, we can tell you about director Kevin Smith’s visit to the set of the film.
Smith appeared on Good Morning America to discuss his trip to the set where the final installment in the Skywalker Saga is being filmed. You can check out a video of what he had to say below, there is also a quote you can check out if video isn’t your thing.
“Number one, J.J.’s doing the Lord’s work, man. This movie looks fantastic. It’s a year away, but man it looks fantastic. I wept on set because I saw somebody give a career-best performance. Somebody I’ve seen in these movies before. I rolled a tear, it was so darn powerful. Biggest set I’ve ever seen in my life. The dude’s not directing a movie, it’s like he’s directing a small country. The thing is so massive.”

I have no doubt the set looks fantastic, Smith is a lifelong nerd and one of the most trusted authorities on all things geek. However, it is difficult to judge the completed film from a set. Back in 2014, Smith also visited the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and gave the production similar praise, he also became emotional at the sight of the Millennium Falcon.
