Kevin Smith Teases New Bluntman And Chronic Costumes In Jay And Silent Bob Reboot

Sequels! Remakes! Reboots! We all hate ’em! Okay, that’s not even remotely close to true, as history has proven. In fact, for the right property, reboots have the potential to inject an unexpected life in an existing franchise. You need look no further than Batman Begins to see how a reboot can positively impact a piece of intellectual property. That film not only rebooted the story, but grounded the character in a new way, leading to a different, realistic take on the costume itself.

I don’t expect we’ll necessarily get the same treatment in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, which will see the two titular characters heading to Hollywood to stop a rebooted production of Bluntman and Chronic, characters who were based on their very likeness. When we saw the first film, they were dressed in some cheesy, spandex-laden material — and those costumes will be ours to see in the new film, as director Kevin Smith teased in a new tweet.

“Week 3 of #JayAndSilentBobReboot begins with us going back to the Blunt-Cave! We brought the classic costumes in from @The_SecretStash as set dec, but wait ‘til you see the *new* costumes! And wait ‘til you see who plays Bluntman and Chronic in their reboot…”

As you can see in the tweet, he not only showed off the old costumes but hinted at new ones. So what can we expect here? I’d like to think we’d get something closer to the likes of Batman Begins or the Watchmen films, as those are more modern takes on goofy costumes…but I doubt that’s what we’ll get.

At the end of the day, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is a low-budget film, so if they can actually show off an impressive-looking costume for the duo, I’ll be mad surprised. But what about you? What do you expect? Let us know your thoughts down below!
