I haven’t even seen A Star Is Born and I can’t get that damn “Shallows” song out of my head. I guess I’m a sucker for the dulcet tones of Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, though given the box office of that movie, it’s clear I’m not the only one here. And here we have Nerdist, who decided to go and make the thing just slightly more catchy.
The geek-focused YouTube channel took the song and adapted it for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. As you likely know, The Last Jedi heavily focused on the relationship between Kylo Ren and Rey, and the desire each had to turn the other to their respective side of the Force. What followed is a potentially-intriguing tale of star-crossed lovers, and while we still have no idea how that’ll all turn out, it’s fodder for parody.

In the song, we see Kylo trying his hardest to turn Rey, promising her a world of opportunity unlike she’s ever seen. In Rey’s section of the song, she wonders if she can trust him and if she can ultimately turn him to the Light. It’s pretty darn silly, but sung surprisingly well. Kinda makes me want to see someone cut this to footage from the film, because it almost works in a serious sense if you take out the goofy aspects of the video.
