Lady Gaga And Bradley Cooper Hit Number 1 On The Billboard Top 100

Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut turned out to be an enormous success. To date, A Star Is Born has made well over $400 million worldwide and earned a few nominations at the 91st annual Academy Awards. Additionally, the film walked away with a Best Original Song Oscar for “Shallow,” which is performed by Cooper and his co-star Lady Gaga. Thanks to that song, Cooper can now add another title to his growing list of accomplishments: Number 1 song.

“Shallow” has climbed the ladder of Billboard’s Top 100, claiming the top spot just this week. While this marks the fourth occurrence at number 1 for Gaga, this is Cooper’s first. This news also puts Cooper above many legendary musical acts in history, including Bruce Springsteen, James Brown, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Pat Benatar, the Pointer Sisters, and Bob Dylan. While it would be false to ever claim that Cooper is a better a musician than the aforementioned legends, it is hard to deny the level of talent Cooper masters and the staying power the film and soundtrack contain. Cooper’s roots were in music before he made the turn for film, and even in that industry, he has shown a drive to be versatile in the number of hats he wears, which now includes writer and director.

Along with its Oscar, A Star Is Born has two Grammys, a Golden Globe for Best Original Song (“Shallow”) and the BAFTA award for Best Original Music. Gaga herself became the first woman in history to win an Oscar, a Grammy, a Golden Globe and a BAFTA award all in the same year. Those facts alone place a spotlight on the high level of creative majesty that these two stars formed together.
