Recently we have reported on various comic book properties getting picked up for film or television development. A couple of examples from this past week alone Image Comics’ Gideon Falls, Crowded and Valiant Entertainment’s Faith. We now have reports of another comic book property getting picked up.

According to Deadline, Legendary Entertainment has acquired the film rights to AfterShock’s comic book Animosity written by Marguerite Bennett with amazing artwork by Rafael de Latorre. AfterShock Media’s president Lee Kramer and CEO Jon Kramer will produce with Legendary’s Jon Silk overseeing.

Animosity is a survival story, in a world where animals suddenly have heightened thought as well as the ability to speak. Now the animal kingdom is hell bent on revenge against the humans who have dominated them. Specifically the story follows an 11 year old girl named Jesse who with her loyal dog, Sandor, attempt a cross country journey from New York to San Francisco to where they think they will find protection.

Next week volume 3 of Animosity titled The Swarm hits comic book shops everywhere on July 4th. Here is the solicit for that graphic novel:

Can Sandor forsake his bestial nature in order to save that which he loves? The answers lie within! Meanwhile, Sandor, Jesse and the survivors hear rumors of a mysterious Walled City where safety may be waiting…but will their journey there be too high a price to pay? Collecting ANIMOSITY #9-13-all five issues from the third story arc of this highly-acclaimed series!
