Liv Tyler Reportedly Offered Role In Child’s Play Remake

The new Child’s Play remake is headed to theaters eventually, and it looks like the studio is already trying their best to round out the cast for the film, which is set to revive everyone’s favorite murderous doll — or at least a murderous doll in some form.

According to That Hashtag Show, The Incredible Hulk, The Leftovers, and Lord of the Rings star Liv Tyler has been offered the role to play Karen, the single mother who is tormented by the doll along with her son. While the report does specify the names Karen and Andy (Andy being the son), it’s not 100% clear if this remake will even have the same names as the original film.

When last we heard, standard dolls were out, and high-tech dolls were the way of the future. Based on an earlier report from the outlet Collider, this remake would feel a lot more like Stranger Things, with it following a group of kids who stumble upon a high-tech doll that inevitably goes on a murderous rampage.

Because of these key differences, I wouldn’t be surprised if we learn later down the line that Tyler’s role has a different name, or that her son isn’t named Andy. Regardless, the studio is interested in her, so we’ll see if that pans out.
