If The Sunday Mirror is to be trusted, the producers of the James Bond franchise have approached Rihanna for a small role in their next film. Nothing is known about the role at this time, though it could amount to little more than a cameo. What is known, according their source, is that she’s definitely interested.

According to the paper’s source, “Rihanna is a big fan of the Bond films and has always loved the idea of appearing in one. She didn’t even need to think about it, she knows she wants to do it.” The source asserts, “She’s really excited.”

This wouldn’t be her first foray into appearing in a blockbuster film, considering she has 2012’s Battleship on her resumé.

One possibility that the report doesn’t mention is that she could just have been asked to provide the film with its signature theme song. Bond films are known for hiring high-profile singers to sing whatever tune is set to serve as the backdrop for the film’s opening credits. The song from Skyfall, sung by Adele, won an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and a Grammy. Previous candidates for the singing spot in Bond 24 include Lana Del Ray and Sam Smith, according to other reports.

What do you think is most likely? Will she appear in the film as a brief flirtation for Bond, or the villain? Or will she lend her pipes to the title song?
