I know that cell phone has been burning a hole in your pocket, in anticipation of some serious gaming on the go. Nintendo announced today that Mario Kart Tour mobile will be available for download this summer 2019. Announced back in January 2018, Nintendo had originally announced Mario Kart Tour mobile would be available for download in the App Store by March 2019.

If you’re keeping track, this marks the second delay this year. The first being the long-awaited yet delayed Metroid Prime 4. That game was more than pushed back, but in fact, Nintendo completely restarted development with Retro Studios, makers of the classic Metroid Prime for Nintendo’s GameCube system. There is some silver lining since Nintendo will undoubtedly invest more time into perfecting the mobile gaming experience for Mario Kart’s race to go mobile.

Nintendo cites reasoning for the delay as being “in order to improve quality of the application and expand the content offerings after launch.” Nintendo rightfully has cause to work out the kinks. They are after all a maker of console games, and are still fresh as a company when it comes to today’s mobile gaming. Since there voyage into mobile gaming, Nintendo has made available Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. In addition, the flawed social app Miitomo.
