Captain America might be the first Avenger, but Black Panther’s reign has existed for generations. Family, legacy, and tradition are cornerstones of Marvel’s Black Panther movie, which includes a sprawling network of relatives and relationships (nearly 30 characters in total). Say one thing for Black Panther, it’s not lacking personalities!
Marvel published a comprehensive breakdown of the Panther’s extended family tree via Twitter this morning. The animated sequence has an old school Disney feel, and leverages Marvel’s unique illustration style. It’s an interesting visual explanation of the film’s major and minor heroes and villains.

Overall, Marvel has done a tremendous job of expressing the scope and scale of Black Panther without giving away too much plot. (Don’t worry, there are no spoilers in this video.) If you’re unfamiliar with the names and setup of the upcoming movie, this video provides a tremendous overview.

Black Panther is a big movie with a lot to say. Judging by the incredibly positive reviews in Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, they’ve nailed it. The movie is poised to shatter box office records and it looks like a major cultural moment. It will be fascinating to see how this movie is received internationally too.
