Marvel Rumor: Giancarlo Esposito Up For A Major Role In The MCU?

After getting our first massive dose of confirmed and accurate information for a while recently when Marvel announced their Phase 4 slate at SDCC 2019, I guess we were all pretty surprised by a few reveals that no one seemed to have caught. However, let’s face it, the vast majority of the info revealed were details we already knew a lot about, and so the cycle continues.

Today we have a rumor from MCU Cosmic, who definitely have had a share of hits and misses with their scoops recently, but they were I think one of the first sites to lift the lid on Eternals as a project from Marvel Studios and look where that went. However, not every scoop hits a home run, and that’s true of most scoop sites to be fair, but I can’t help hoping this one is on the money.

The outlet is reporting that actor Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) is up for a major role in the MCU. Now, I’d guess this would not appear to be a Phase 4 character, but who really knows? There will surely still be a lot of casting decisions to be made over the next 3 years as Phase 4 rolls out, so who knows where Esposito could end up if this goes somewhere. I have already heard a lot of speculation on Norman Osborn as a possible candidate and that probably comes from the outlet’s speculation. They say that Marvel is looking for an actor around Esposito’s age for a character codenamed The Benefactor, and of course, everyone is jumping at the possibility of Osborn from this.

To be honest I don’t care which role they give Esposito as long as it’s a character that can show the man’s acting talent, but preferably an antagonist for sure. Esposito must be one of my favorite actors currently working and I am a big fan of his performances in both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, where he plays the deadly, smiling, mastermind Gus Fring. We also know that Esposito has already worked under the Disney banner as he will be appearing in The Mandalorian, the first live-action Star Wars TV show when it launches with Disney + later this year. Details on Esposito’s role are being kept under wraps, but I can’t wait to see what he delivers in that show.

What do you think of this rumor, are you giddy at the possibility of Esposito in the MCU like me, or are you crazy like a fox? Sound off in the usual spot down there and let’s hear what you think?
