Matt Reeves’ Batman Script Rewrite Due Before The End Of The Year

For some time now, the Matt Reeves Batman film has been sitting in pre-production purgatory. A script has yet to be finalized and there has been the on-again, off-again drama as to whether Ben Affleck will appear as The Dark Knight in the film. Now, there may be a development as early as December 31st… possibly.

Entertainment news reporter Umberto Gonzalez has tweeted that the Matt Reeves script rewrite is due before the end of the year. While there’s no source cited in his tweet, Gonzalez has had a good track record with these types of updates.

As for Affleck’s involvement, the latest rumors have stated that Reeves would like a younger Bruce Wayne/Batman in his story. His film would be a prequel to Affleck’s Batman, giving some insight to what occurred in his vigilante career that helped form the Caped Crusader that has appeared in the current DCEU. With the way the universe is set now, that could definitely be a positive.

With the Wonder Woman films set as prequels, it would fall in line with developing the character’s background. Also, this would free Affleck to tackle any other projects he has lined up and return at a later date. The change in actors shouldn’t be an issue since unlike many of the other Justice League members, Bruce Wayne is a human with no super abilities. His aging would be normal.

As for now, regarding the script’s completion, the clock is ticking…
