Matthew McConauhey Joins Guy Ritchie’s Toff Guys

Director Guy Ritchie is currently hard at work on another British gangster film, titled, Toff Guys. With Snatch, Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, and Rocknrolla under his belt, Ritchie thrives at this sort of self-invented genre and fans of those films hope that Toff Guys continues the tradition. Miramax CEO Bill Block announced that Oscar-Winner Matthew McConaughey will be joining the cast of Toff Guys.

“McConaughey as the inside outsider with Henry and Kate will make for a thrilling Guy Ritchie ride.”

McConaughey will be a lovely addition to the cast that includes actress Kate Beckinsale and Henry Golding. Ritchie will direct the film from a script he co-wrote with Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies. Ritchie, who is currently finishing up Disney’s live-action adaptation of Aladdin, is one of my favorite directors, not only giving viewers great films of the British underworld, but he also did an excellent job with the two Sherlock Holmes films. For me, the only strike on his record is the film he made that starred his ex-wife Madonna, Swept Away.
No release date for the film has been set and it is described as, “A very British drug lord tries to sell off his highly profitable empire to a dynasty of Oklahoma billionaires.”
