Maze Runner: The Death Cure Dominates Social Media

Even between Christmas and New Years social media did buzz did not take a holiday. Via Variety we have the numbers of the most talked about films on social media according to the media measurement firm ComScore and it’s PreAct Service. So what were people talking about?

It looks like the Fox’s Maze Runner: The Death Cure took first place last week with 53,000 new conversations. This is thought to be thanks to the release of a new poster on December 26. The finale to the Maze Runner sci-fi trilogy is set to open in theaters on January 26, starring Dylan O’Brian, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Kaya Scodelario. This film’s release date had been delayed for almost year because of an injury that was sustained by Dylan O’Brien during shooting.

As for other films that made the top new conversations, in second place is Universal’s Fifty Shades Freed. This film is also a third and final installment in a trilogy and it generated 37,000 new conversations. So far the first two films Fifty Shades of Grey and Fifty Shades Darker have grossed a combined $950 million worldwide. The last installment is set to hit theaters February 9 of this year.

In third place is Disney’s Black Panther with a generated 35,000 new conversations. The film dropped a new trailer on December 26, which helped generate the buzz. The film hit theaters on February 16 of this year, stars Chad Boseman as T’Challa, the king of Wakanda, a fictional technologically advanced nation of Africa. The next to films that were talked about were also Disney films, first was Avengers: Infinity War with 22,000 new conversations and Solo: A Star Wars Story with 11,000 new conversations.
