Men In Black Reboot Will Have More Action Than Previous Films, Says Star Tessa Thompson

Men in Black is one of those upcoming reboots I’m not really convinced is happening. Sure, it has a cast and has already made its way through production, but I guess I think about this franchise so little that I’m surprised whenever it comes up. All that pessimism aside, with the likes of Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth at the forefront, it’s something worth checking out.

“Hopefully we’re doing the franchise proud,” Thompson told Entertainment.ie in a recent press junket for Creed II. “It’s a lot more action than I think you’ve seen in the other Men in Black films. It is global in scope, it’s set here in the UK which is super fun, there’s a lot of fun, English humor. As agents, they also travel elsewhere in the world. I think it’s bigger in scope with amazing folks like Liam Neeson — Ireland — and Emma and Kumail Nanjiani and Rebecca Ferguson. We have a really rad fight scene.”

The bit about the action is actually pretty surprising for me. While the Men in Black films aren’t necessarily ridiculous with their action, if you had asked me what we need more of in the reboot, I doubt action would have made the top five of my list (maybe BETTER action, though?). But I suppose that comes with the territory of a globetrotting story like this.

I guess, more than anything, I’m excited to see Kumail Nanjiani go all-out in a fight scene. Who’d’ve guessed he’d be doing that?
