After the worldwide success of Venom keeps on growing, Sony are pushing on quickly with their VenomVerse, Spider…Non Spider-Verse, erm…. Their superhero movies based on Spider-Man characters but currently without Spider-Man. Next up is Morbius the Living Vampire and again this movie won’t feature Spider-Man, based on the success of Venom who needs Spidey anyway right?

Anyhoo, Morbius is, as we already know, going to star Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto in the lead role of Michael Morbius. The scientists who develops a Vampire-like affliction/superpower and has to be cured by Spider…. Wait, and then goes on to use those powers to beat up some other bad guys.

Leto being attached in the lead role is pretty much all we know about the movie so far other than the fact it is being written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (Lost in Space, Power Rangers, Gods of Egypt) and directed by Daniel Espinosa.

I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to see what quality the guys who wrote my three favourite scripts of all time can bring to the Sony….thing. God’s of Egypt alone should have not only won best original screenplay at the Oscars, it should have automatically been given a lifetime award for best script evah!

With this kind of talent on board and the lead role being the actor who played the world’s most popular version of The Joker, how can it possibly fail?

Well, star Jared Leto has dropped a bombshell today on Twitter by revealing that he has shaved his Jesus like beard off for the movie. I guess beards and un-dead Vampires don’t mix too well. Check it out in all its awesomeness below.

There has been no release date yet set for the movie and I am happy with that. With a set-up like this and so much riding on it, I want them to take the time to make sure they get the script into a well-oiled machine. I am expected the 21st Century’s version of The Shawshank Redemption here after all.

As you can tell I am super excited to see what comes of this movie and I am ecstatic that Sony are pushing ahead with this Universe….thing. My only hope now, is that as expected Sony take back the rights to Spider-Man and get him out of that fake-ass dullfest that is the MCU and he comes back home to where he belongs, at Sony.
