The monthly theater subscription service, MoviePass, now has some competition in Sinemia. In response to the customer demand, today the MoviePass competitor released Sinemia Cardless, which allows users to reserve their tickets online, this feature eliminates the wait for the membership card.
In a statement, founder and CEO of Sinemia, Rifat Oguz had this to say:
“We’ve seen incredible demand for our movie ticket subscription service, with many customers wanting to dive right in and buy movie tickets without waiting for a physical card to be shipped to them. We’re proud to now offer the Sinemia Cardless feature, allowing movie fans to reserve movie tickets in advance immediately. At Sinemia, we strive to provide the best moviegoing experience possible while driving the industry forward, and this is just one example of how we’re moving quickly to address our customers’ needs. Sinemia Cardless makes it easier than ever for people to get their movie tickets in advance. The new cardless feature is available to all subscribers with a paid Sinemia account in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia. Users simply select the movie and showtime through the Sinemia app and use digital, one-time only payment information associated with their account to finish the check-out process.

Sinemia already offers a lower subscription price than MoviePass, at $4.99/mo (though you can’t see a movie a day with this plan). Along with being able to reserve tickets online, which you currently cannot do with MoviePass, Sinemia offers its users the ability to watch the same film more than once, a perk recently taken off the table by MoviePass. Sinemia also allows for screenings of 3D, IMAX, and 4DX.
With two prominent subscription services, the competition between them should be good for consumers, as they will both try to give us the most perks for the best price in order to obtain our business.
