Are you ready to see Mulan on Disney+ but not sure you want to fork over $29.99? Read on to see if new information about the blockbuster movie changes your mind.
If you have not heard by now, Disney CEO Bob Chapek relayed information this past Tuesday to shareholders about the state of the company. One major announcement was Mulan would be available to purchase on the Disney+ platform for $29.99. Originally, Mulan was set to premiere earlier this year on March 9th. Now, Mulan will premiere on September 4th, which is almost six months later. At this point, everyone should know it was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Once the announcement was made many outlets rushed to post the price point along with other facts and thoughts. Speculation could only be made about the length of time a person would possess the movie. Would it be a 24-hour rental? Maybe you would get it for 48 hours. Well, speculate no more. According to an article posted on Insider, a representative for Disney+ has now clarified subscribers “will have continuous access to the film for as long as they remain subscribers to the service.”
Okay, so what exactly does that statement mean? Well, for starters, it means this isn’t your typical 48-hour rental. It won’t expire after that time. In fact, it won’t expire until you cancel your subscription to the service.
But what happens once you resubscribe? That isn’t clear. But after a few months, chances it won’t matter. My guess is everyone assumes at one point Mulan will be added to the standard library of titles on Disney+. In essence, it will have removed from behind the paywall.
