Narcos: Mexico Gets Renewed For Season 2 By Netflix

I still haven’t finished off Season 1 of Narcos: Mexico yet, the show began it’s tenure on Netflix on November 16, and I’m probably 2-3 episodes from the end currently. I am enjoying the show, but if I am honest, not quite as much as I enjoyed the previous Narcos show which focused on the Colombian cocaine drug wars.

Now a Deadline report says that Netflix has announced Narcos: Mexico has already been green lit for Season 2. So that should please fans of the show and I know that it is very popular amongst many friends and colleagues I have spoken to so far.

Narcos: Mexico stars Diego Luna as drug kingpin Felix Gallardo alongside Michael Pena as DEA agent Kiki Camarena trying to stop him. Kiki moves his young family from California to Guadalajara and comes up against the corruption of a state-sponsored drug trade. Narcos: Mexico Season 1 is mostly set around the same time as the first season of Narcos and even features a small cameo from the big player from that show, the infamous Pablo Escobar.

As the show narrator announces at the very beginning of Narcos: Mexico, this is a drug war that never ended and still rages on today. As such without having seen the end of Season 1, it seems like there is plenty of mileage left in the tank of Narcos: Mexico.

Narcos: Mexico is produced by Gaumont Television for Netflix and Eric Newman serves as Executive Producer and showrunner.

Are you pleased that Narcos: Mexico has already been renewed for Season 2? Sound off below in the comments section as always.
