Netflix Announces The Release Date Of Season 2 Of 13 Reasons Why

Although it brought fourth a lot of controversy, Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why was a huge hit last year. Overall it it had ranked as the fourth most tweeted about TV show of 2017 only behind other dominating shows like Game of Thrones, Stranger Things and Big Brother. Via their social media Netflix announced that the second season of the teen-suicide drama would premiere on May 18th.

The announcement comes with a caption that reads “The tapes were just the beginning. May 18.” The second season will pick up with the characters of the show trying to start their journeys to recovery. Also, there is an impending lawsuit filed by Hannah’s parents against Liberty High School. But here is the twist, Netflix says that there are “A series of ominous Polaroids lead Clay and his classmates to uncover a sickening secret and a conspiracy to cover it up.”

The first season was based on the young adult book by Jay Asher. The second season of 13 Reason Why is being produced for Netflix by Paramount Television. On for executive producers are Selena Gomez, Mandy Teefey, Kristel Laiblin, Joy Gorman Wettels, Michael Sugar and Steve Golin.

According to Netflix via Variety the second season of the show will have new warning videos before each episode giving information on how to get help. As it has done with some of it’s more popular shows it is also planning an after-show Beyond the Reasons. Make sure to check out the announcement above!

It will be interesting to see how the show continues to go about the very sensitive topic of suicide and how the school and students deal with the aftermath, especially with some trying to cover it up.
