Netflix Nabs Most International Rights To DC Universe’s Titans

If you’re a non-U.S., non-Chinese reader to the site and you’ve been hearing us talk about DC Universe for months now, you may have been pretty irritated by the idea of having to purchase yet another streaming subscription in order to witness their first original live-action series, Titans. After all, the show’s trailers have been a bit divisive, so there was no way of knowing if such a service would be worth the effort.

Well, you lucky dogs, fret no more. You’ll not have to pay another monthly fee in order to see Robin beat the tar out of Gotham’s lowlifes. According to THR, Netflix has nabbed rights for the series outside of the U.S. and China. As was hinted at above, U.S. viewers will still need to purchase DC Universe in order to indulge in the latest comic book adaptation, and Chinese audiences currently have no way to view the show, so it looks like everyone else has the best deal, eh?

Given that DC Universe has yet to penetrate U.S. borders, it makes sense they’d look for a partner to help them out for their original programming on the international front. I know some fans were concerned the option to actually view the show wouldn’t be available, so it looks like that concern — at least for most viewers — is no longer one to consider.

On the plus side for DC Universe, this license sale gives them an extra bit of upfront cash before their show airs. For the time being, at least a chunk of change has been paid for, thereby allowing them to further invest.
