New A Wrinkle In Time Trailer Is Super Trippy!

A Wrinkle In Time is shaping up to be one of Disney’s most unique upcoming projects, from its stunning visuals to its diverse cast. The latest trailer gives us an even better look at what may be Disney’s most exciting non-Marvel or Star Wars release of 2018. Watch it now!

Based on the novel of the same name by Madeleine L’Engle, A Wrinkle In Time follows Meg Murray (Storm Reid), as she sets out on a quest to find her missing scientist father (Chris Pine), accompanied by her younger brother Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe) and schoolmate Calvin (Levi Miller). Aided by the celestial beings Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling), Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon), and Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey), the three children must deal with fifth-dimensional beings and wormholes, until they finally discover a seemingly Utopian planet controlled by an unseen force.

Aside from being the rare Disney release that isn’t a sequel, Marvel film, Star Wars film, live-action remake of a classic, or Pixar movie, A Wrinkle in Time is also unique in that it is only the third live-action movie with a budget above $100 million to be helmed by a woman, the other two films being Kathryn Bigelow’s K-19: The Widowmaker and Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman. Director Ava DuVernay, who was nominated for both a Golden Globe and Academy Award for Selma, is also the first woman of color to direct a film with a budget this size.

A Wrinkle In Time hits the big screen on March 9, 2018.
