New Alita Images Show Off Two Baddies

There’s an old saying. A hero is only as good as his villain. It’s why the likes of Batman has been able to ascend to his current popularity. His rogues’ gallery is just so damn good and intimidating. Manga characters are also known for their great villains, and for the upcoming adaptation of Battle Angel Alita (the film is called Alita: Battle Angel), we know they wanted to create some equally-interesting baddies.

Empire has two new images of the characters, which you can check out HERE. The first image is that of Zapan, played by Ed Skrein. We’ve already seen plenty of him in the trailer, and the shot shows off his metallic ripped physique as he’s backed into a wall by the titular Alita. She’s got some pretty sweet cyborg parts.

Ed Skrein ain’t alone. he’s got another big baddie, played by Jackie Earl Haley, and as terrifying as Zapan was, the huge Grewishka is on a whole new level.

“He’s got brute strength, but he’s also empowered by these cyber-doctors,” Haley told Empire. “One of his skills is that he’s got these talon-like fingers that can shoot across the room, pierce just about anything and snap back just as fast.”

I wouldn’t want to mess with those guys, but they could also bring with them a whole new problem: CG fatigue. I know plenty of folks who grow sick of CG villains. Will these two have that same pitfall or will they rise above it? We have a few months before we find out!

Alita: Battle Angel hits theaters on February 14, 2019.
