BBC America has officially confirmed that Doctor Who will be making an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con next month and will host a panel moderated by talk show host and noted Doctor Who superfan, Chris Hardwick. It is set to feature new Time Lord, Jodie Whitaker, fellow cast members Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill, as well as incoming head writer/showrunner Chris Chibnall and executive producer Matt Strevens.
The Doctor Who panel is expected to take place in the fabled Hall H per tradition.
Although an appearance by the show was to be expected, this years panel is especially significant, since it features a brand new cast and crew, following the exit of longtime head writer/longtime showrunner Steven Moffat as well as star, Peter Capaldi.
Although Whittaker has only portrayed the Doctor onscreen for a few short minutes, her casting has already proved to be controversial with fans, given that she is the first female actor to embody the role. Not only that, but she has also drummed up controversy herself by advocating equal pay for men and women everywhere.
I don’t know about you guys, but I am really looking forward to hearing what this new cast and crew have to say about the series! I am already a huge fan of Chibnall and Whitaker thanks to the TV show Broadchurch (which starred former Doctor, David Tennant), so I know that the series is in good hands, and couldn’t be happier with the direction it’s going.
What about you guys? Are you as excited as I am to hear that the cast and crew will be putting in an appearance? Are there any questions that you have which you hope will get answered?
