New Hobbs And Shaw Image Shows Off Idris Elba As The Villain

Next year will mark a big milestone for the long-running Fast and Furious franchise. It will mark the first time there’s ever been a planned spin-off from the original franchise (I don’t think we can count The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift) with the release of Hobbs and Shaw, a title I’m still convinced won’t survive production.

As one would expect, we will be splitting away from Vin Diesel and co. for this film and focusing solely on Luke Hobbs (played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (played by Jason Statham). With these two beefcakes leading the film, you’d better bet your bottom dollar that they’ll be having a great villain. For this first solo adventure, actor Idris Elba will have the pleasure of going up against these two.

Taking to Instagram, Johnson himself showed off Elba for the first time. Check out the image and caption below:

“I learned a long time ago (when I was a very sinful eyebrow raising villainous man in the crazy world of pro wrestling;) that heroes are only as great as their greatest villains. A pleasure to introduce the man himself @idriselba we brought in to our Fast & Furious franchise to wreak havoc, hell and mayhem on our heroes HOBBS & SHAW.
The name: BRIXTON.
The record: UNDEFEATED.
The promise: SHOWDOWN OF ALL SHOWDOWNS.
So cool having my brother @idriselba come and play in our sandbox. This one’s been years in the making!!
As I always say, we either gonna get along or we gonna get it on… and fuck getting along 😈

Okay, so Brixton is the name of Elba’s character, and just as you’d expect, he’s a bona fide badass of the highest caliber here. As expected, Johnson is hyping this one all the way to the stars, and we’d expect nothing less. Johnson puts his heart and soul into these movies, and his enthusiasm is always on point.

If nothing else, I think we can all agree that Elba looks about as awesome as he always does, and we know he has the potential to play a terrifyingly competent force to be reckoned with. Perhaps we’ll get to see what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object.
