New Sonic The Hedgehog Poster Is Gross

Very recently, IGN released the first look at everyone’s favorite Blue Blur in the form of a motion poster for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie. While I’m usually pretty open about taking liberties for film adaptations of any property, I’d be lying if I said I was optimistic about our first look at him.

He only slightly resembled is video game counterpart, but perhaps the biggest offense was that his body looked more like a buff dude with a Sonic head plopped on top than it did Sonic himself. However, seeing as it was just a first look, I was willing to let it slide. Maybe it’d look better in a second image, or even in motion.

Well, I’m starting to lose faith in that. Movie theaters are getting their posters for the film from the studio, and, of all people, comic book writer Mark Millar was kind enough to post an image of it on Twitter for all of us to see.

Holy crap, does this look bad. First of all, as Millar stated, there is no way those legs are connected to the same body. Secondly, those legs look like they belong on humans, not an animal of any sort. Between those two images, I feel like we’ll be venturing into the uncanny valley with this character all too soon. For a laugh, I recommend checking out the comments directly below Millar’s post.
