New Walking Dead Intro Is Here To Get You Excited For Season 9

With AMC’s The Walking Dead set to return this Sunday, today the show unveiled a new opening sequence. After eight seasons of the original intro, fans now have something fresh and new. You can check it out for yourselves just above, and below you can find what executive producer Angela Kang had to say about it.

“The… sequence is indicative of the new look and feel to the world this season, and we wanted to give a nod to the show’s graphic-novel origins. As we jump into a new chapter of the story, we wanted to present something… to reflect the changing landscape, where nature will be playing a bigger role. While our survivors work to rebuild and adjust to the crumbling infrastructure, the threat of the dead is constantly looming. And true to the spirit of our show, there are Easter eggs for the fans to find if they’re looking close!”

I have always thought the music was great, it brings a sense of both urgency, and uncertainty. The new open is very, hmm, macabre? I do like it though, in fact I think I like it better than the old one. As most of you already know the show is set for some changes this season, so why not have a new intro? Changes include a jump in time and the exits of both Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes and Lauren Cohan’s Maggie.
