No, Armie Hammer Is Not In Final Talks To Star As Batman

With Ben Affleck officially declaring recently that he is no longer Batman, many of us fans are ready to see who The Batman director Matt Reeves will be bringing on to don the cowl in the near future. While his films may not have been stellar to most, it is widely agreed that his take on the Caped Crusader was one for the ages, so whoever takes on the character after him will have big Bat-Shoes to fill.

One name that’s recently been thrown around is Armie Hammer. And it makes sense. After all, this was the guy who was supposed to take on the character in George Miller’s Justice League film from the early-2000s. Now, a recent rumor making the rounds is stating that Hammer is actually in final negotiations. Well, this report is facing debunks on two sides. The first comes from THR‘s Borys Kit:

“I’m not in the business of debunking bunk but considering everyone got in a tizzy over this…there is no truth to the below. Being told there haven’t even been any actor meetings for THE BATMAN. (But that doesn’t mean Reeves and WB don’t have ideas of who they would like).”

The second comes from TheWrap‘s Umberto Gonzalez:

“Armie Hammer. Batman. Not true.”

Of course, you should take all rumors with a grain of salt, but that’s not to say this couldn’t actually happen. The world of film is unpredictable, and you never know how things will turn out. One potential note against the rumor, however, is that Armie Hammer may be just a tad too old for what the studio and director Matt Reeves are reportedly going for.
