Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Isn’t On The Cannes Lineup, Yet

Master of dialogue Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood is thought to be on the card for the Cannes Film Festival, but apparently that isn’t the case. Thierry Fremaux, Cannes artistic director said that the film was incorrectly added to the festival by the media, which causes problems in the form of festival goers who once they hear it will be at the festival, they except to see it.

You can check out what Fremaux told the press at the festival’s lineup conference down below.

“The Tarantino was not ready. It was abusively and prematurely announced (in the press) which is too bad because it creates an appetite. God knows we have the appetite for it, but it’s in a sprint. It’s one of the ones we hope to have good news on, to announce that it will be added.”

Fremaux does hope the film can be included in the festival, and having seen a good portion of the film, sung it’s praises while addressing journalists.

“I have seen a large part of it, but it is not out until the end of July. Tarantino is putting all his effort into having it ready. He wants it to be shown in 35mm so the post-production is a bit longer, he’s still editing. I wish him courage to be ready and to do a great film – what I saw is magnificent.”

Well, while I hope the film makes it on the festival’s lineup, there’s little chance that I am going to make a trip to Cannes (Unless Jammer wants to send Kyle, Nick, and yours truly France) so I will be seeing it in a local theater. Tarantino has said on more than one occasion that he plans to retire after making 10 films. Once Upon A Time in Hollywood is number nine, so that leaves one more to go. Which as of right now means he would end his career after his upcoming Star Trek film, wow, who could have predicted a Star Trek film would be Tarantino’s last?

Do you think Tarantino will really retire after his next film? Let us know in the comments down below!
