Paramount Sets Release Dates For G.I. Joe 3 & Dungeons & Dragons

It’s been nearly a handful of years since the last G.I. Joe film hit theaters. Since then, the franchise has gone radio silent. Well, that silence has been broken.

According to Variety, the third G.I. Joe film has a brand-spankin’ new date, and that date is March 27, 2020. It’ll be interesting to see what approach they’ll take with this new film. Will it be something of a reboot, like G.I. Joe: Retaliation was, or a continuation of those characters and their journeys? We’ll have to wait and see.

But that wasn’t the only date we got. After a couple years of Goosebumps director Rob Letterman being attached to take on an adaptation of the tapletop RPG game, Dungeons & Dragons, it looks like we finally have an idea of when that’ll be: July 23, 2021.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Dungeons & Dragons has received the big screen treatment. Back in 2000, an awful version starring Jeremy Irons hit theaters and received a lashing from both critics and fans of the game. It’s not a high bar for the studio to make a better film than that, but here’s hoping that they accomplish as much in this next film. Should they not even be able to make a decent film, the chances of audiences coming out into theaters will be small, as audiences are becoming increasingly picky about what blockbusters they choose to consume.
