Passengers is one of those movies that looks like it’s got a surprise or two up its sleeve. In some of the promotional materials, you get the sense that it’s a very simple, very human story about two people stranded in space who are trying to connect with one another while battling the demons of their past. In others, you get the sense that there are more explosive, thriller-like conventions at play with some sort of game-changing mystery at its core.

In these two new bits of Passengers goodies, the romantic and fun elements are the primary focus, with zero attention paid to the mysterious thriller stuff.

First, check out this new Passengers promo trailer, featuring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence having one hell of a time on that spaceship:

Up next, here’s Lawrence and Pratt at their charming best in a clip that fleshes out one of the scenes from the first Passengers trailer. Michael Sheen joins them for this:

On a routine journey through space to a new home, two passengers, sleeping in suspended animation, are awakened 90 years too early when their ship malfunctions. As Jim (Pratt) and Aurora (Lawrence) face living the rest of their lives on board, with every luxury they could ever ask for, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… until they discover the ship is in grave danger. With the lives of 5000 sleeping passengers at stake, only Jim and Aurora can save them all.

Passengers is directed by Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game), and also features the talents of Andy Garcia and Laurence Fishburne. The film comes out on December 21.
