Paul Feig’s Next Film To Star Emilia Clarke And Crazy Rich Asians’ Henry Golding

Paul Feig’s latest film, A Simple Favor, has only just hit theaters this past weekend, taking in a respectable haul of $16.0 million. It’s definitely not Marvel cash, but given the genre and budget, as well as its early tracking, which were a bit lower, it wasn’t half bad. More importantly, both fans and critics seemed to like it.

It’s off that positive reception that his next film, Last Christmas, is being cast. According to THR, Feig has locked down two new stars in the form of Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding. Clarke, of course, is best known as Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones, but she also recently joined the Star Wars universe as Han Solo’s love interest, Qi’ra. Golding most recently made a splash in the breakout romantic comedy hit, Crazy Rich Asians, where he played love interest, Sean Townsend.

Interestingly enough, the film is written by Emma Thompson (yes, actress Emma Thompson) and newcomer Bryony Kimmings. The actual story for the film is being kept under wraps, but we do know that it’s being described as a “holiday romance set in London.” In previous interviews, Feig had expressed pride in his body of work spanning so many genres, so I guess you’ll be able to add romance and holiday to the repertoire of genres in his belt.
