PlayStation Classic Game List Revealed! Did Your Favorite Game Make The Cut?

Last month, it was revealed that Sony would be taking a page out of Nintendo’s playbook in terms of how it utilized nostalgia. The Big N had successfully released two “classic” systems in the form of the NES Classic and SNES Classic, where consumers could purchase a miniature version of their favorite systems with tons of pre-loaded classic games. Seeing opportunity, Sony is now set to release a “classic” system of their own in the form of the PlayStation Classic (yes, they even stole the “classic” moniker).

But when the system was first announced, there were only a handful or so of games that were shown off. What would be the remaining pieces of software that drive? Well, that has been officially released, and while there are several great games in here, I can’t help but feel there are a lot of missed opportunities.

Okay, for starters, some of the great ones on here are FFVII, Metal Gear Solid, Oddworld, Resident Evil, Twisted Metal, and Wild Arms. However, there are a couple missing opportunities like Chrono Cross, FFIX, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit, and I’m sure if you think hard enough, there are plenty of others you could think of.

I’m most interested to see if gamers would be pleased with these games. While we all have fond memories with the PS1, the reality is it was a transitional period for the industry, when devs were just figuring out how to utilize 3D. As such, the gameplay, while revolutionary at the time, have since been refined, leaving many of them feeling older than their 16-bit brethren. But will nostalgia be enough to overcome the clunkiness of gameplay? We’ll have to see what people think when they get their hands on in on December 3 for $99.99!
