R.L. Stine Signs A Muti-Book Deal With BOOM! Studios

Award winning, bestselling horror author R.L. Stine had his debut novel back in 1981 titled Blind Date. Over three decades later which included his best selling Fear Street series which debuted in 1989 and Goosebumps in 1992, Stine is still looking to scare a new generation of young readers.

As first announced through PREVIEWSworld BOOM! Studios has signed a multi-book original graphic novel agreement with Stine. He will produce a brand new series of four middle grade supernatural horror original graphic novels for BOOM! Studios. The first of which will be released through their KaBOOM! middle grade imprint this fall and will be available everywhere books are sold.

Stine talked about what this deal means to him saying that, “I’m so lucky to have been able to scare so many generations of kids. Now I feel lucky to be going just beyond Goosebumps to a whole new medium of fright and chilling laughs. I’m hoping that BOOM! is the sound of an explosion of fun in a whole new world for me.”

Bryce Carlson, VP of Editorial & Creative Strategy for BOOM! Studios also talked about the deal with Stine, “As a lifelong fan of R.L. Stine, I couldn’t be more excited to see him scare a whole new generation with a series of original horror graphic novels at BOOM! Studios. His work changed my life as a reader and I can’t wait for today’s young readers to share that experience as R.L. Stine takes the graphic novel format and sends everyone just beyond the limits of their imaginations…”

BOOM! Studios’ award winning KaBOOM! imprint is also home to other licenced series like Rugrats, Adventure Time, Steven Universe and Garfield. Goosebumps had a couple of arcs over at IDW Publishing recently with Goosebumps: Monsters at Midnight by Jeremy Lambert with art by Chris Fenoglio and Goosebumps: DOWNLOAD AND DIE! by Jen Vaughn with art by Michelle Wong. It will be interesting to see if they try and continue these arcs over at BOOM! Studios with Stine’s new deal.
