Rampage Trailer 2: Big Meets Bigger!

Dwayne Johnson is still flying high on the mammoth success of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, a film that no one could have seen making anywhere need $700 million, and here it is, quickly approaching $900 million worldwide.

One of the 187,000 movies he has in production or development is Rampage, an adaptation of the Acclaim arcade game of the same name. Video games are considered cursed when it comes to film adaptations, and while there are a couple contenders that could break that curse, Rampage could potentially be the one to make it happen.

This trailer seems to have a lot of elements for a fun time at the theaters. In it, we have Johnson’s character, a primatologist who is working with the silverback gorilla, George. When George starts to mysteriously grow in size, it uncovers a conspiracy to open the next chapter of natural selection. From the looks of the trailer, everything culminates between two other big monsters: a giant crocodile, and a flying wolf. Do I recognize this as the Rampage grew up playing? Not really. But it sure looks like a hell of a lot of fun.

Below is the official synopsis for Rampage:

“Primatologist Davis Okoye (Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry mutates this gentle ape into a raging creature of enormous size. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered animals. As these newly created alpha predators tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.”
