Rebecca Ferguson In Talks To Join Denis Villeneuve’s Dune Remake

If Denis Villeneuve can do with something Dune similar to what he did with Bladerunner 2049, then I am going to be paying close attention. I absolutely loved the way he took that classic movie and made an effective sequel.

Dune, of course, is not a sequel, but a remake given that David Lynch made the film in the 80’s, not to mention the TV mini-series many years later. Frank Herbert’s classic series of novels certainly has some appeal and fans will be hoping that with modern technology and a visionary filmmaker like Villeneuve, they can finally get something which matches up with their own imaginations.

We already know that Dune is going to split the first novel into a least 2 movies and that Timothee Chalamet is going to be playing the young Paul Atreides. Now Deadline is reporting that Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Fallout) is in talks to play Lady Jessica, the mother of Paul Atreides.

I don’t have any strong opinions either way on the casting of Ferguson, I have always liked her in anything I have seen. Whether the casting will be strong, whether the script will work and the visuals, we just don’t know. However, I think this is one film I’d be looking to watch in theaters because it’s likely going to be a visual treat given how great Bladerunner 2049 was on that front.

Any fans of Dune here, what do you want to see from Villeneuve’s remake and do you think Rebecca Ferguson would be a great Lady Jessica? Use the spice to traverse great distances and leave some comments in the chatty place below.
