April Fools: Rick and Morty Live-Action Adaptation Casts Christopher Walken and Shia LaBeouf

The zany creation from the brain of Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland is getting a live action adaptation. The multiverse hopping, portal gun shooting, space alien impregnating duo of Rick and Morty is getting made. Christopher Walken and Shia LaBeouf have been cast in the titular roles, the ever-reliable and unbiased Cosmic Book News reports. Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi is directing the film, shooting a script draft was penned by Harmon and Roiland themselves.

There are still several characters left to cast. The nuclear family consists of Morty’s dad Jerry, his mom Beth, and his sister Summer. I wonder which we’ll get first, the movie or the gestating season 4. Since they’re making this thing, there are definitely a few story beats from the series I’d like to see touched upon. First up has got to be Season 2 Episode 5’s “Get Schwifty.” Next would have to be Season 1 Episode 6’s “Rick Potion #9.” Finally, for the love of god, I hope there are Mega seeds.

Though no further details have been released, it would be cool if this turns into a trilogy, or even an entire multiverse of movies following different versions of Rick and Morty themselves, perhaps all culminating in a team-up between all the other Rick and Mortys. The only other works we’ve seen outside of Rick and Morty that’s not been completed by the series creators are those batch of awesome short films inspired by cinema created by British animator Lee Hardcastle on the web which you can view below:

This is certainly good news for fans of the Adult Swim series. But I do admit having the actors who inspired Rick and Morty cast in this would have been awesome, but unfortunately, your favorite hover boarding time traveler and his mad doc may be a little too over the hill. But how awesome would it have been to see Marty McFly himself Michael J. Fox and the Christopher Loyd’s brilliant Doc acting in rolls inspired by their work in Back to the Future?
