Rob Liefeld’s Shrink Comic Gets Picked Up By Sony Pictures

Deadpool Creator Rob Liefeld’s comic Shrink has again been picked up by Sony Pictures. The comic features a female psychiatrist that offers help to supeheroes. The property was in development by Sony back around the turn of the century, but the project didn’t make it very far.

While the comic is described as “a high-concept twist on Analyze This,” (the late 90s film that starred Billy Crystal and Robert Deniro) it more reminds me of how Tony Soprano visited a psychiatrist on The Sopranos. It’s a concept that we usually don’t think about, that a hero (or mobster) who lives in a stressful and chaotic world, might need to vent from time to time.

I actually think this would work better as a television series as opposed to a film, it just seems like there is more to get into here than can be shown over the course of a couple of hours. While I am not yet familiar with the comic, going off what I do know, this is a film I would like to see be made as I quite enjoy Liefeld’s unique take on the superhero world,
