Robert Langdon Series Based On The Lost Symbol In The Works At NBC

We all have our vices and guilty pleasures as human beings. Some people like Fifty Shades of Grey or overindulge in some of other life’s simple pleasures. Me? I occasionally like to indulge in trashy, history-based thrillers with my favorite static and uninteresting protagonist Robert Langdon, who was the center of such stories as The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, The Lost Symbol, Inferno, and Origin.

The books are written by author Dan Brown and are a hell of a lot of fun to blow through if you have some time to kill. Of course, a few of these tales have been adapted to the big screen, with Tom Hanks woefully miscast as Professor Langdon (Sorry I’m being so cynical here. I’m normally not!)…but the big screen isn’t big enough to contain Langdon and his adventures.

Variety is reporting that NBC has given a production commitment to a new series based on The Lost Symbol, which is the third book in the novel series.

Dan Brown will executive produce along with Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Francie Calfo, Samie Falvey, and Anna Culp. Taking on writing and executive producer duties is Daniel Cerone. Also of note is the fact that this will be the first time the character is played by someone who is NOT Tom Hanks. Any ideas on who this could be?
