Robert Rodriguez Working On Netflix Movie?

Robert Rodriguez always seems to be on the fringe of filmmaking technology. He was one of the first filmmakers to switch to digital cameras; he continues to pioneer visual effects with movies like Alita: Battle Angel; He also did a VR project with Michelle Rodriguez. In spite of all that, he has yet to make a movie exclusively for a streaming service. Given his tendency to jump into the future, you’d expect to have seen something from him on Hulu or Netflix.

Well, it looks like that may very well be the case soon. The reveal came from an unexpected source: Ben Affleck. While promoting his latest film, Triple Frontier, which is out on Netflix now, he was asked by Collider if he was working with Rodriguez on a movie called Hypnotic. Affleck’s response may have given a bit more away than he intended.

“I met with Robert, I really like him. He’s got a movie he’s actually doing with Netflix first, so I’m not sure. That’s one of those kind of like, ‘Hey, nice to meet you. Let’s see if it works out down the road,’ kind of things.”

Okay, first off, that’s pretty cool that Rodriguez and Affleck may one day work together. It didn’t sound like they took any steps in making that happen, but it’d be a cool relationship to see thrive. I’m sure Affleck could learn a few things from Rodriguez and vice versa.

But I’m more excited to hear about Rodriguez doing a movie for Netflix. Sadly, there’s no word on what the project would be, or even if it’s a sure thing (you never know in this business), but what do you think? Let us know down below!
