Mile 22: Ronda Rousey Discusses The Challenges Of Acting

Former UFC champion Ronda Rousey will star alongside Mark Wahlberg and Lauren Cohan in the upcoming special ops film, Mile 22. LRM‘s Nancy Tapia was able to sit in on a press conference for the film, and while there she heard Rousey discuss her challenges with acting. You can check out what Rousey had to say below.

Well I’ve been studying acting since probably like about, 2013 and 2012. So, I still consider myself a student, and new, no matter how long I’ll be doing it. But I consider myself a student in all this. And I feel like being a student in itself is a skill. I try, I really pride myself in being a great student and trying to learn as quickly as possible. Honestly, that’s what motivates me the most, is learning things are new. I think that a lot of people doubt that anyone could master more than one thing. It’s easy to get stuck in, you know, you’re already good at this thing, you’re good at what’s comfortable. And it’s hard to try and learn something new with the world watching, because the first time you master something you do it in private. But I love those kind of challenges, and I love people doubting me. I’m just so lucky to be a part of this team , and to have Pete really believe in me. I feel like I have a huge responsibility to prove them right. There’s not many goals that I can look and doubt my ability to accomplish. And so, that’s the only thing to do, is to prove him right, make him look like a genius.”

Having small parts in several films such as Expendables 3, Entourage, and Furious 7, Rousey will have a larger role in Mile 22 and this time, her acting skills will really be tested.

While fighting in front of a large crowd is indeed performing, it really isn’t the same as acting. Rousey was on top of the world at one time, dominating the UFC women’s division (some even proposed she should fight Floyd Mayweather), after a couple of brutal losses, she decided to take a hiatus and then moved on to the WWE full time at the front of the year.

Mile 22 opens August 17, 2018!
