Oh, 2019. You will forever be known as the year of a thousand streaming services. Like, no kidding, there are a lot of streaming services coming out, not the least of which are the impending Disney+ and inevitable WarnerMedia service. But that’s not even including another huge player in the business. Apple.
Yeah, I know. Hard to forget that Apple exists, right? Over the past year-plus, they’ve quietly been hiring enviable talent over to their video service — one that we’re sure they’re hoping will rival even the biggest contenders under the sun. But they’ve been mum as to when we could actually expect the service to hit consumers.

However, a new report from The Information seems to be pointing to the very near future. According to the outlet, the tech giant is telling studios and networks “whose offerings will be available through the service to be ready for launch by mid-April.” This doesn’t come from just one, but three separate sources.
There is no official information regarding the upcoming service, but rumors are pointing to this being a free service to those owning specific Apple devices as opposed to a monthly fee. As someone who’s been embedded in the Apple ecosystem for around 15 years or so, that sits pretty well with me. But will it be enough to move the needle for those not down with the cult? We’ll have to wait and see.
