We’ve spent a lot of ink discussing Birds of Prey — more specifically the film’s initial cut and the impending reshoots. In short, our own source saw a cut of the movie and they were not a fan. One big problem stemmed from a third-act twist — that the diamond that served as the MacGuffin was actually not a diamond, but a flash drive that housed Black Mask’s d**k pics that he didn’t want to get out.

YouTuber Grace Randolph has since reported that the movie was going through extensive reshoots to combat poor test screenings, and that it would go beyond action set-pieces, which is what the official story from Warner Bros. was.

Now, Twitter user ViewerAnon has claimed to have spoken with multiple people who have seen a new cut of the film, and here’s what they said.

“I’ve received confirmation from multiple people who saw the current cut last night: BIRDS OF PREY‘s reshoots were generally action bits during the third act. No major overhauls…There are changes, obviously, but it’s normal tweaks stuff, not a SUICIDE SQUAD style rejig like some people claimed…I can say there’s no dick pic element anymore. Originally there were naked captures of Black Mask etched into the inside of the diamond. That’s been removed.” 

Sadly, at this time, we can neither confirm nor deny these claims, so feel free to take this with a grain of salt. After all, this is from a dude named ViewerAnon. That being said, this would all fall in line with things we’ve heard regarding the original cut and the mindset over at Warner Bros.

While I’m personally sad the d**k pic MacGuffin appears to be gone, I’m happy it sounds like the rest of the film’s irreverent tone is still intact. WB doesn’t need another Suicide Squad fiasco on their hands.
